In July, the new Amazon distribution centre built by Techbau S.p.A. became operational in Jesi, in the province of Ancona, covering a total area of 232,500 sqm.

The facility is Amazon’s first distribution centre in the Marche region and is expected to create 1,000 new jobs, generating employment opportunities and long-term value for the surrounding area.

Techbau delivered a technologically advanced logistics facility arranged across four levels dedicated to robotic storage and equipped with 70 loading bays.

One of the project’s most distinctive features is the vertical greening system installed on the building’s façades: more than 3,500 sqm extending up to 27 metres in height and comprising approximately 22,000 native plants. It is one of the largest vertical greening projects ever completed in Europe.

In addition to defining the architectural identity of the complex, the vertical garden helps improve environmental quality by absorbing CO₂ and airborne pollutants. The vegetation also provides thermal and acoustic insulation, contributing to more comfortable indoor conditions and reducing the building’s energy requirements.

The use of native plant species supports biodiversity and provides a natural habitat for local wildlife, contributing to a richer and more sustainable ecosystem while enhancing the aesthetic quality of the façades.

The entire complex was built in accordance with high environmental and energy-performance standards and has achieved BREEAM Excellent certification.

The project demonstrates Techbau’s ability to deliver complex assets by combining technical expertise, innovation and sustainability in a logistics facility designed to generate long-term value.
