TECHBAU SURPASSES 2 MILLION SQUARE METERS CERTIFIED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Techbau S.p.A., a national leader in the private construction sector, announces the achievement of a major milestone in its journey of growth and innovation in sustainability: over 2,000,000 square meters have now been certified under the leading international environmental sustainability protocols, including LEED, BREEAM, and WELL.

Specifically, 47 projects across Italy — from North to South — have been certified by Techbau to date, totaling 2,103,842 square meters, with an additional 319,726 sqm currently under certification. This milestone is a tangible result of a corporate vision focused on environmental excellence, design quality, and end-user well-being.

This achievement was recently surpassed thanks to the BREEAM Excellent certification awarded to the AOI1 – Jesi project, an advanced logistics infrastructure that fully embodies the principles of energy efficiency, environmental impact reduction, and long-term sustainability.

A record-breaking property, it is the largest in Italy and the second-largest in Europe, with a total area of 232,500 square meters. One of its standout features is a 3,500 sqm vertical garden wall, which significantly contributed to the project’s certification. With 22,000 native plants, this represents the largest vertical green installation ever completed in Europe, helping reduce air pollution by absorbing CO₂ and improving air quality.

“Surpassing 2 million certified square meters is not just a technical achievement for us, but above all a cultural and strategic milestone”, said Andrea Marchiori, CEO of Techbau S.p.A. “Every project that earns environmental certification marks a step forward toward a more ethical, advanced, and planet-friendly construction model. This milestone reflects years of dedication, targeted investment in R&D, and a company vision that has prioritized sustainable innovation for over 20 years. In fact, our first LEED Gold certification was awarded to the Trade Center at Sofia Airport”.

Sustainability has become a cornerstone of Techbau’s corporate strategy, systematically integrated into every phase of the construction process: from design and material selection to site management and final delivery. The goal is to create lasting value for clients, partners, communities, and regions through buildings and infrastructure that meet the highest environmental and social standards, enhancing asset performance throughout the real estate cycle. This strategy is increasingly embraced by stakeholders and end users alike, reflecting a growing awareness around reducing environmental impact.

Each certification is the result of meticulous coordination, performance monitoring, and optimization, carried out by highly qualified internal multidisciplinary teams. The expertise developed over the years has enabled Techbau to solidify a recognized leadership position in sustainable construction, becoming a trusted partner for clients aiming to integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) objectives into their projects.

“We are fully aware that the ecological transition demands deep, systemic change — and as a construction company, our role is pivotal. We’re not stopping here. Today’s achievement is just a step along a path that will see us continue to tackle environmental, technological, and social challenges with the same determination”, the CEO concluded.

Techbau reaffirms its commitment to a future where every building contributes actively to people’s well-being and the protection of the planet. The results achieved so far are just the beginning, as the sustainable evolution of the construction industry is both a shared responsibility and a remarkable growth opportunity for those who choose to lead it.
